The goal is to write the winning fiction! The winning prize? A fiction, Icon or Wallpaper of your choice from jadedsilk or theladyfeylene. The winner and runner up get a June winners/ru badge that they may use for posting anywhere, including webpages if they so desire. ^_^ (A new category has been added for "judges choice" where both judges pic a fiction that they liked a great deal.) Participants get a may participation badge icon. Tell everyone that your drabble won a prize or that you participated! There are rewards even for the betas who proofread competition entrys! Our overworked and under-appreciated right hand men and women get their own particpant badge that they may use as they like.
Everyone is welcome to participate, everyone will be considered!
You have until June 29th by midnight EST to post a 1000 - 5000 word fiction" (A few words over or under is fine. By a few I mean no more than twenty, this should account for any differences in writing program word counts.) Any Fullmetal Alchemist pairing, including Gen. is acceptable. The theme is “Beach” Mark the fiction in the subject section as “June Competition Entry: Fiction". Then in the meat of your post, just include the regular tag and cut to your entry.
Topic: Beach: Amestris is landlocked, but I bet it has lakes ^_^ You can write any pairing or rating as long as it involves the beach. Going to the beach, remembering the beach, talking about the beach...the sky is the limits, just keep with the beach theme!
theladyfeylene and I will collaborate to judge. If she and I cannot decide an uninvolved third party will be called in to assist in decision making.
Some ideas of what we will be looking for: (Aside from the obvious, such as, did you stick within the word limit and did you adhere to the theme...)
Composition: (How well was this thought out, was it put together? Is it easy to follow? etc.)
Setting: (Is your setting descriptive, interactive, well thought out? Do the characters react and interact well in it.)
Mechanical: (Did you spellcheck? Does that word mean what you think it means? Is your grammar atrocious (God knows mine is! ^_^)? Beta readers are both welcomed and encouraged!)
Flow: (Is the story true to itself? Is it fun (scary, gory, fuzzy etc)/easy to read. Was the intended audience catered to and accounted for? Etc etc.)
Coherency: (Does it make some damn sense even if your character is nuttier than a fruitcake?)
[Please remember to mark your fiction correctly in the subject section so we do not accidentally gloss over it!]
[Please also list your beta's, we want them to get all the glory they deserve!]
